The term "gardening" encompasses a wide range of topics, from vegetable gardening to ornamental gardening, cut flowers, container gardening, and more. As a gardener, I appreciate all genres of gardening but have a particular passion for the ornamental gardening niche. This passion is reflected in my YouTube channel, Hooked and Rooted, which primarily focuses on ornamental landscape gardening.

I’ve noticed that when searching the internet for gardening content, vegetable gardening tends to dominate the results. This observation highlighted that many people associate the term "gardening" primarily with vegetable growing. This realization inspired me to clarify the distinction between content centered on vegetable gardening and content focused on ornamental landscaping.

To explore this further, I turned to my YouTube analytics, specifically the "Other channels your audience watches" section. Based on this data, I created a Google form to poll viewers and ask them which YouTube ornamental garden channels they watch most often. 

I created a video inviting viewers to share their input on this topic, including a link to a Google Form for voting. The form allowed participants to select their top five favorite ornamental landscape gardening channels from an alphabetically arranged list featuring channels such as Garden Answer, HortTube with Jim Putnam, and The Impatient Gardener. It also included an "Other" field for respondents to manually type in channels not listed as a choice.

Voting was open for 28 days:

Voting was open from December 2, 2024, the day the video went live, through December 30, 2024. During this period, a total of 1,140 participants cast their votes and the results are presented below. The list consists of channels that received a minimum of 15 votes.
