When I was a new gardener I frequently visited these garden centers, and loved that I could buy many plants with my limited budget. That hasn't changed, I still regularly visit both the Lowes and Home Depot Garden Centers. Each year they get in new varieties, and I'm always excited about what I might find during a visit, and what I get to share with all of you. While I love shopping local independently operated nurseries for unique plants, I'm a firm believer that everyone should have access to beautiful and affordable plants. One of the best things about the local box store garden center is that they are easily accessible to most, and affordable. Here's an example of one of my Home Depot Garden Center videos.
New to landscaping your property? Have a limited budget? Starting any new landscaping project can be intimidating. Most new home owners don't have the extra money in the budget to hire out a professional landscape designer. I know my husband and I didn't when we started with our new construction property. My favorite place to shop for plants, and where I could make my money stretch, was at the local box store garden center. In those earlier days, there were many mistakes made, but each one taught me a lesson. Over the years I developed an eye for plant combinations, and had a better understanding of which plants worked where. I paid closer attention to spacing and positioning of plants. As my gardens began to mature, the work I had been putting in, and all the practice I had in my garden was paying off. Things were looking really pretty, and almost as if I had some professional help. I'm really proud of how my landscape has progressed. I'm a self taught gardener and I'm happy to share my real life experience with you. A beautiful landscape can be anything you want it to be. Whether your looking for a manicured garden with a formal feel, a field of wildflowers (queue up Tom Petty), or a casual cottage garden, I'm here to help.
